Rulani Mokwena hails MC Alger’s resilience after hard-fought victory over MC Oran
MC Alger head coach Rulani Mokwena has reacted to his side’s hard-fought win against MC Oran.
MC Alger claimed a 3-2 win over their rivals with 10 players after Larbi Tabti was shown a red card.
The South African coach is still unbeaten in the Algerian top flight, with his side now sitting second in the Ligue 1 table after two wins and one draw.
“I congratulate my players as well as the entire staff for this hard-fought win against a solid rival who played a great game,” Mokwena said after the game.
“We were lacking in midfield, which forced me to change certain positions and adjust our tactical setup.
“MCO controlled long phases of the game very well, but I’m pleased with how my players responded. We managed to create several chances, and this victory is important for our morale.”
Mokwena also spoke about the upcoming CAF Champions League clash against Fassil.
“I’ve watched some of their matches. We’ll approach this tie with the utmost seriousness, because our objective remains clear: to win and move closer to qualification.”
Mokwena will hope to continue his winning start when MC Alger travel to play FC Fassell this weekend at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.
