Rui Modesto: Udinese winger linked with Levski Sofia move in Bulgarian efbet Liga switch
Angola-Portugal winger Rui Modesto of Udinese is being linked with a move to Bulgarian side Levski Sofia in the efbet Liga. The 26-year-old, who can operate on the right flank of the attack, is under contract with the Serie A club until 30 June 2029, so any deal would require agreement with Udinese rather than a free transfer.
Modestos future is under discussion after a season in which he split his time between Udinese and a loan spell at Palermo. He returned to Udine at the end of June following that temporary move, with his parent club now assessing options for the coming campaign amid interest from abroad.
Levskis interest comes at a time when Modesto is still establishing himself in Italian football. Since arriving in Serie A, he has made 23 league appearances for Udinese, contributing two assists, as well as featuring in Serie B and the promotion play-offs during his stint with Palermo.
Udinese signed Modesto from Swedish club AIK in August 2024 for a reported 2m fee, after he had impressed in the Allsvenskan with 12 goals and eight assists in 49 league outings. Before moving to Sweden, he played in Finland for FC Honka, where he won the Finnish League Cup in 2022.
Modesto, born in Vendas Novas in October 1999 and standing at 1.81m, is predominantly right-footed and has built a reputation as a specialist on the right wing. For now, he remains an Udinese player with three years left on his deal, giving the Serie A club a strong negotiating position if Levski Sofia decide to formalise their interest.
