Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has dismissed the possibility of signing free agents to address the club’s injury crisis, expressing confidence in the club’s young talents, including 19-year-old midfielder of Ghanaian descent Kobbie Mainoo.
Despite Mainoo being sidelined until the foreseeable future, Amorim remains committed to promoting youth players to navigate the team’s current challenges.
Mainoo, a product of United’s youth system, had shown promise this season before sustaining a muscle injury during training.
His absence adds to United’s injury woes, with several senior players also unavailable.
Despite these setbacks, Amorim has ruled out entering the free agent market.
He emphasized the importance of providing opportunities for young players.
He believes that focusing on the club’s future through its youth system is essential, especially given the current injury challenges.
“No, no. Not that idea. We have young players, we are working with young players.
“We have to really focus on that, as a club, when we have, at this moment, a lot of injuries. We should use the young players. If not, you don’t have the space for them to improve and show themselves.
“I think we really need to focus in the future of our club on the youth, because of the history and because of the reality of our club.”
Amorim’s commitment to youth development aligns with Manchester United’s storied tradition of nurturing homegrown talent.
As United prepare to face Everton at Goodison Park, Amorim’s strategy will be tested.
The match is crucial, with United aiming to improve their 15th position in the Premier League standings.
