RS Yoff’s struggles continue as Diambars and AS Douanes share the spoils
The seventh matchday of Senegal’s Ligue 2 came to a close on Monday with Renaissance Sportive de Yoff (RS Yoff) suffering yet another defeat, prolonging their winless streak to seven games this season.
RS Yoff’s latest setback came at the hands of Niarry Tally, who secured a 2-1 victory.
The result marked the fourth defeat of the campaign for RS Yoff, leaving the team anchored at the bottom of the table.
Their dismal record now stands at three draws and four losses, highlighting a tough start for the club from the Yoff commune.
Monday’s other fixture saw Diambars play out a 1-1 draw at home against AS Douanes.
The draw maintained Douanes’ unbeaten run this season, a feat they share with AS Kaffrine and Stade de Mbour.
However, it was the fifth stalemate for the customs officers, placing them fifth in the league standings.
Diambars, on the other hand, find themselves in 12th position with seven points.
Niarry Tally’s victory over RS Yoff moved them to seventh place, providing a much-needed boost in a tightly contested mid-table battle.
Meanwhile, RS Yoff’s poor form raises concerns about their ability to climb out of the relegation zone as the season progresses.
The game between Diambars and AS Douanes was marked by strong defensive performances, with both sides managing only a goal apiece.
While Douanes remain resilient, their propensity for draws could hinder their push for a higher league position.
Diambars, struggling to find consistency, face increasing pressure to deliver results to avoid slipping further down the table.
Results from matchday 7
- Diambars 1-1 AS Douanes
- Niarry Tally 2-1 RS Yoff
As the season unfolds, teams like AS Douanes and Niarry Tally will aim to solidify their positions in the league, while clubs such as RS Yoff must urgently address their challenges to avoid a relegation battle.
Matchday 7’s outcomes underscore the competitive nature of Ligue 2, where every result carries significant weight in the standings.
