RS Berkane sign goalkeeper Youssef Moutia on two-year deal
RS Berkane have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of experienced Moroccan goalkeeper Youssef Moutia on a two-year contract.
Moutia signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2028 as the Moroccan side continue to reinforce their squad ahead of the upcoming domestic and continental competitions.
The arrival of the veteran goalkeeper is expected to provide RS Berkane with greater depth and competition in one of the most important positions on the pitch.
Moutia arrives with considerable experience of Moroccan football, having represented several clubs throughout his career.
The goalkeeper previously played for Wydad Casablanca, Chabab Mohammedia and Union Casablanca before joining Olympique Safi, where he spent the most recent period of his career.
His time with Olympique Safi was particularly notable during the second half of last season, when he established himself as an important figure between the posts.
Moutia made 13 appearances for the club across the Botola Pro and CAF Confederation Cup, producing a series of solid performances that helped attract attention from elsewhere in the Moroccan top flight.
His move to RS Berkane comes shortly after his departure from Olympique Safi.
The goalkeeper reportedly terminated his contract with the club in recent weeks following a dispute over unpaid wages.
That decision made him available for a new challenge, allowing RS Berkane to move quickly to secure his services.
For Berkane, the signing represents an opportunity to add a goalkeeper who already understands the demands of Moroccan football and has experience competing at both domestic and continental level.
His previous involvement in the CAF Confederation Cup could also prove valuable as RS Berkane prepare for another demanding schedule beyond the domestic league.
Moutia’s experience could provide additional stability and competition within the squad, while his familiarity with the Moroccan football environment should allow him to settle into his new surroundings quickly.
The two-year contract also demonstrates the club’s confidence in his ability to contribute over the long term.
Having played for several established Moroccan clubs, Moutia brings a wealth of knowledge to a RS Berkane side with ambitions of challenging for major honours.
The goalkeeper will now begin preparations with his new teammates as the club continues building its squad for the upcoming campaign.
RS Berkane will be hoping that Moutia can reproduce the form he showed during his spell with Olympique Safi and become a reliable option between the posts.
For Moutia, the transfer offers a fresh start after a difficult end to his time at Olympique Safi and the opportunity to compete for trophies with one of Morocco’s leading clubs.
His arrival further underlines RS Berkane’s intention to strengthen their squad and ensure they have sufficient quality and depth to compete on multiple fronts during the new season.
