RS Berkane sign Abdelghafour Lamirat from Wydad AC on three-year deal
Moroccan giants RS Berkane have officially announced the signing of Abdelghafour Lamirat from Wydad Casablanca during the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Orange outfit confirmed on Sunday that the 28-year-old defender has joined the club on a three-year contract that will keep him at Berkane until 2029.
Lamirat becomes the latest addition to RS Berkane’s squad as the club continues to strengthen its ranks ahead of a demanding new campaign, with the team preparing for both domestic and continental competitions.
The experienced player arrives with a solid background in Moroccan football, having represented several clubs throughout his career.
Lamirat began his professional journey with Chabab Ben Guerir before making the move to Olympique Safi, where he established himself as an important member of the squad.
His time at Olympique Safi was particularly memorable, as he helped the club achieve a historic milestone by winning the Moroccan Throne Cup for the first time in its history during the 2023/2024 season.
His performances subsequently earned him a move to one of Morocco’s biggest clubs, Wydad Casablanca, where he spent last season.
However, after just one campaign with the Casablanca-based giants, Lamirat has opted for a fresh challenge and will now continue his career with RS Berkane.
His arrival is expected to add further experience, depth and defensive strength to an RS Berkane side that has established itself as one of the leading forces in Moroccan and African football in recent years.
The club will be hoping Lamirat can quickly adapt to his new surroundings and play a key role as they target success across all competitions in the upcoming season.
The move also represents another significant step in Lamirat’s career, with the 28-year-old now set to wear the colours of one of Morocco’s most ambitious clubs on a long-term basis.
