Morocco outfit Renaissance de Berkane have etched their name into the history books after clinching their third CAF Confederation Cup title.
The Orange Boys emerged as champions of the 2024/25 campaign after holding Simba SC to a 1-1 draw in the second leg tie on Sunday at the Amaan Stadium, completing a 3-1 aggregate win.
Berkane now joins Tunisian side CS Sfaxien as the record winners of the Confederation Cup, with three titles each. The cub secured their first Confederation Cup title in 2020 before clinching it for the second time in 2022.
The Moroccan outfit went into the second leg with the advantage after snatching a crucial 2-0 home win over Simba SC last week.
In a highly competitive return clash at the Kilimani City FC, Simba SC opened the scoring after just 17 minutes into the match through Joshua Mutale, reviving hopes of overturning the scores.
However, a stoppage time goal from Mali international Soumaila Sidibe ensured Berkane snatch an important away draw to emerge as winners of this year’s Confederation Cup title.
Simba SC hoped to overturn the scoreline on home turf, but all efforts proved futile, as Berkane clinches the title.
