The Royal Moroccan Football Federation hosted a reception today at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Maâmoura in honor of the Under-20 national women’s football team.
The celebration comes following their historic qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, scheduled to take place from August 31 to September 22 of this year.
The Under-20 national women’s team secured their spot in the World Cup finals after defeating Ethiopia in the fourth and final round of the African qualifiers.
Tarek Nejm, the General Secretary of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, congratulated the players, coaching staff, and administration on this historic achievement.
He emphasized that this qualification was not an easy feat but rather the result of continuous hard work and dedication from all involved.
Nejm stated, “This leap in women’s football in Morocco is the outcome of significant investments and efforts made by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, aligning with the lofty directives aiming to elevate this sport in the country.”
He encouraged the players of the Under-20 national women’s team to redouble their efforts to achieve positive results in the upcoming challenges.
Stéphane Nado, the coach of the Under-20 national women’s football team, attributed this well-deserved qualification to the support provided by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.
He highlighted the immense efforts exerted by the players to achieve this milestone.
Nado mentioned that the journey to this historic qualification for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup was long and challenging, especially in the return leg against the Ethiopian team.
He pointed out that the team now has seven months to prepare adequately for the competition.
Fatima El Ghazwani, the captain of the Under-20 national women’s team, expressed her joy at this unprecedented achievement, particularly after securing the bronze medal in the 12th African Games.
The players affirmed their readiness to deliver outstanding performances in Colombia, aiming to honor the national jersey on the world stage.
