The Royal Moroccan Football Federation has decided to appeal the suspension of the national team’s coach, Walid Regragui, for four matches, two of which are suspended, following the events that unfolded at the end of the Moroccan team’s match against the Democratic Republic of Congo.
This decision was made by the Disciplinary Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) during the second round of the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
In a statement, the Football Federation clarified, “Following the unjust decision taken by the disciplinary committee of the Confederation of African Football against the coach of the national team.
Walid Regragui, in light of the events that occurred at the end of the match between the Moroccan team and its counterpart from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
As part of the second round of the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, which includes a suspension of four matches, two of which are suspended, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation has decided to appeal the decision.”
The Federation emphasized that it considers the mentioned decision to be unjust, especially as the facts showed that Regragui did not engage in any behavior contrary to the spirit of fair play, according to the aforementioned document.
It is worth noting that the Moroccan national team has officially qualified for the Round of 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations, regardless of the results of today’s matches.
Coach Walid Regragui had emphasized the necessity of achieving a victory to secure the top spot in the group.
