Belgian Pro League side Royal Antwerp have completed the signing of Moroccan attacker Ibrahim Salah from Swiss club FC Basel in the current transfer window.

The 24-year-old forward joins the Belgian outfit on loan with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the campaign.

After completing the signing, Royal Antwerp highlighted Salah’s familiarity with Belgian football, noting that the Moroccan international began his professional career in the country with Gent before continuing his development through moves to France and Switzerland.

Salah joined Gent at the start of his senior career and quickly attracted attention with his technical ability, pace and attacking versatility. His performances earned him a move to French Ligue 1 side Rennes, where he continued to gain experience at the highest level of European football.

During his time in France, the winger also featured for Brest, where he had the opportunity to compete in the UEFA Champions League, further enhancing his reputation on the continental stage.

Royal Antwerp believe Salah’s experience across Belgium, France and Switzerland will add significant value to their attacking department as they prepare for the new season.

Throughout his professional career, the Moroccan forward has accumulated 129 appearances and scored 21 goals, showcasing his ability to contribute both through goals and creativity in the final third.

Known for his direct style of play, quick movement and ability to operate across multiple attacking positions, Salah provides Royal Antwerp with another offensive option as the club seeks to compete on multiple fronts.

The move also represents an opportunity for Salah to revive his career and secure regular playing time after joining FC Basel, where he continued to develop in the Swiss league.

By including a purchase option in the agreement, Royal Antwerp have given themselves the opportunity to assess his performances before deciding on a permanent transfer.

The announcement of Salah’s arrival comes on the same day the Belgian club introduced their new head coach, German tactician Marvin Ko, as Antwerp begin preparations for the upcoming campaign with a renewed sporting project.

With a new coach in charge and reinforcements arriving, Royal Antwerp are hoping that the addition of Ibrahim Salah can help strengthen their squad and improve their competitiveness in Belgian football.
