Manchester United’s recent FA Cup victory over Leicester City has sparked debate over manager Ruben Amorim’s tactical decisions, particularly his deployment of new signing Patrick Dorgu.
Club legend Roy Keane voiced his concerns, questioning the fairness of playing Dorgu out of his natural position.
Dorgu, a 20-year-old Danish-Nigerian wing-back, was acquired from Lecce in the January transfer window.
Primarily known for his role as a left wing-back, Dorgu was instead positioned on the right flank during his debut against Leicester.
Despite showing promising moments and linking up with teammate Amad, he was substituted at halftime for Alejandro Garnacho.
Keane, providing halftime analysis on ITV, criticized Amorim’s decision: “They bring new players in, and you think he’s going to play left wing-back but he’s playing right wing-back. Is that fair on other players?” he said.
Amorim defended his strategy, highlighting Dorgu’s versatility and history of playing on the right in previous teams.
Born in Copenhagen to Nigerian parents, he has represented Denmark at various youth levels and made his senior debut in 2024
