Rosenborg activate clause to make Amin Chiakha their most expensive signing

Amin Chiakha will remain at Rosenborg on a permanent basis after the Norwegian club exercised its option to buy the 20-year-old Algeria international from FC Copenhagen.

The deal is understood to be worth €5m (£4.3m), a fee that will make Chiakha the most expensive signing in Rosenborg’s history. The transfer follows his loan spell with the club and marks a long-term commitment to the young forward, whose performances since arriving in Norway have persuaded Rosenborg’s board to complete the move.

Chiakha’s father confirmed that the transfer had been finalised in comments to Maghreb-Foot. The agreement brings a permanent conclusion to the player’s time on loan and secures his future with Rosenborg.

The Norwegian side’s decision comes despite interest from elsewhere in Europe. Chiakha is reported to have rejected several approaches from other clubs because he wanted to continue his development at Rosenborg.

That decision has set the stage for a club-record transfer. The €5m fee is significantly higher than Chiakha’s current estimated market value of €3.5m, according to Transfermarkt, but Rosenborg have judged that his contribution and potential justify the investment.

For Chiakha’s representatives, the agreement is viewed as more than a routine transfer. His move from FC Copenhagen to Rosenborg began as a temporary arrangement, but his form has changed the nature of the deal and convinced all parties that a permanent switch was the right outcome.

Rosenborg will now retain a young Algeria international whose performances have strengthened his position at the club. The transfer also gives Chiakha greater certainty as he continues his career in Norway, following a period in which his displays attracted attention from other European teams.

The move represents a significant financial commitment from Rosenborg and sets a new benchmark for the club in the transfer market. Chiakha’s permanent arrival will therefore be judged not only as the continuation of a successful loan spell, but also as a statement of confidence in a forward who is still just 20.

While his current valuation stands at €3.5m, Rosenborg’s decision to pay €5m underlines the importance they attach to keeping him. Chiakha’s choice to remain, despite interest from other European clubs, has helped complete a deal that makes him the most expensive player ever signed by the Norwegian club.
