Ronaldinho Adds South American Super Cup to Trophy Cabinet with Atlético Mineiro
Though no longer a presence in European football or the star he once was at FC Barcelona, Ronaldinho continues to rack up silverware in South America. The Brazilian maestro recently celebrated winning the South American Club Super Cup with Atlético Mineiro after a thrilling 4-3 victory over Argentina’s Lanús in extra time.
Known as the Recopa Sudamericana, the competition features a showdown between the winners of the Copa Libertadores—South America’s premier club tournament—and the Copa Sudamericana, its secondary cup. This triumph marked Atlético Mineiro’s first-ever Super Cup title and added another accolade to Ronaldinho’s illustrious career.
The former Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and AC Milan star looks set to move on after this success, with reports linking him to Boca Juniors or Fluminense for the upcoming season.
