Romeo Amane: RC Lens eye move for Rapid Viennas Ivorian midfielder
Romeo Amane, the Ivorian central midfielder currently at Rapid Vienna, is being linked with a move to Ligue 1 side Lens as the French club assess options to strengthen their midfield this summer.
The 23-year-old, who joined Rapid from BK Hacken in January 2025, is under contract in Vienna until 30 June 2029, meaning Lens would need to negotiate a fee to prise him away. Amane is valued at around 5m, and any talks are expected to reflect both his long-term deal and regular involvement at Bundesliga level.
Amane has become a key figure in Rapids engine room, with 40 league appearances in Austrias top flight and additional experience in European competition, including outings in the Champions League and Europa League qualifying rounds. His exposure to continental football is understood to be a factor in Lens interest as they look for players accustomed to high-intensity fixtures.
Before moving to Austria, Amane built his reputation in Sweden with Hacken, where he featured prominently in the Allsvenskan and helped the club secure the Swedish title in 2022. That period also brought success in the domestic cup, adding further silverware to his resume and underlining his experience in pressure situations.
Rapid secured Amane from Hacken for a reported 1.3m and, with three years left on his current deal, the Austrian club are in a strong position regarding any negotiations. As it stands, Amane remains contracted to Rapid Vienna until 2029, with Lens interest yet to progress beyond an emerging transfer rumour.
