Romelu Lukaku and Napoli part ways after difficult spell in Italy

Romelu Lukaku is set to leave Napoli after the two parties agreed to terminate his contract, bringing a difficult spell in Italy to an early close.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Belgian striker will now return to his home country to continue his rehabilitation rather than feature again for the Serie A side. His season has been badly hit by recurring hamstring and muscle injuries, restricting him to just seven outings and barely more than an hour on the pitch, making it impossible for him to build any real momentum.

Napoli have accepted that parting ways is the best solution as they look ahead to the summer transfer window and a refresh of their attacking options. The club are expected to explore potential destinations for Lukaku, with interest likely to emerge from Turkey and Saudi Arabia once he proves his fitness.

The decision draws a line under Lukaku’s time in Naples and allows both sides to move on cleanly. For Napoli, it opens room in the squad and wage bill as they reshape their forward line, while for Lukaku it offers a chance to reset his career away from the constant frustration of injuries in Serie A.
