Romelu Lukaku: Ajax linked with move for Napoli and Belgium striker

Romelu Lukaku, the Belgium international striker currently at Napoli, is the subject of interest from Dutch giants Ajax in a potential summer move. The 33-year-old centre-forward, who is under contract in Naples until June 2027, has been linked with a switch to the Eredivisie side as they look to add elite experience to their attack.

Lukaku joined Napoli from Chelsea in August 2024 for a fee of 30.7m and went on to win the Serie A title in the 2024-25 season, adding to the Italian championship he claimed with Inter Milan in 2020-21. He also lifted the Italian Super Cup with Napoli in 2025-26, underlining his status as a proven performer in Italys top flight.

The former Anderlecht forward has amassed 85 goals and 30 assists in 170 Serie A appearances, building on a prolific spell in the Premier League where he scored 121 times in 278 games. His current market valuation stands at 6m, a figure that could make him a relatively accessible target for Ajax despite his high-profile CV.

On the international stage, Lukaku remains a central figure for Belgium and featured at the 2026 World Cup, making six appearances and contributing three goals and one assist. He previously helped his country secure third place at the 2018 tournament.

Napoli face a decision over whether to cash in on the forward with one year remaining after the coming season on his deal, or keep faith with a player who has consistently delivered goals across Europes top competitions.
