Lukaku Brothers: The Missed Turin Reunion
Belgian football could have witnessed a rare fraternal union in Italy, as Jordan Lukaku revealed he was close to signing with Torino, a move that might have brought his older brother Romelu Lukaku to Juventus.
In an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, the younger Lukaku, then with Ostend, explained how advanced talks were with Torino:
“I spoke with the coach and the technical director. A contract was ready. But after six months of rehabilitation and with a few extra pounds, I didn’t feel ready to make the move.”
Jordan had impressed Torino scouts during a youth tournament in Viareggio while with Anderlecht, but ultimately chose to stay in Belgium to regain full fitness.
This decision may have impacted his brother Romelu’s future at the time.
“If I had signed for Torino, Romelu might not be at Everton today but at Juve. It would have been nice to share an apartment in Italy with my brother.”
Romelu, who was with Everton during that period, was reportedly interested in Juventus. The possibility of the two siblings playing in the same city — one in Granata and the other in Bianconero — would have been a historic and heartwarming chapter in their careers.
While the move never materialized, the story offers a glimpse into how one brother’s decision could have reshaped the path of another. As Jordan hinted, who knows what the future holds — perhaps one day, Turin or another city might welcome both Lukakus together.
