Romain Essogo: Gabon striker joins US Chauvigny on free transfer from Trouville-Deauville
US Chauvigny have signed Gabon forward Romain Essogo from Trouville-Deauville on a free transfer. The 28-year-old centre-forward, who was born in Libreville, moves after one season with the Normandy side.
Essogo, a 1.90m right-footed striker, arrives with solid experience in the French lower divisions, having featured across several National 2 groups and in the Coupe de France. He previously moved to Trouville-Deauville from FC Vesoul, also on a free transfer.
The attacker has shown an eye for goal in the amateur ranks, notably scoring six times in 12 National 3 Group J appearances and adding further strikes in National 2 and the Coupe de France. His spells at Ergue-Gaberic and Genets Anglet helped establish him as a regular presence in the French non-league scene after an early move to Plouzane AC from AS Gabes’ youth ranks.
Essogo has now agreed a permanent switch to Chauvigny, who add a tall, experienced centre-forward to their attacking options ahead of the new campaign.
