Roma revive Jamie Leweling transfer push

Jamie Leweling’s future at VfB Stuttgart has taken a fresh twist, with AS Roma stepping up their efforts on Deadline Day.

Reports from Italy say the Serie A club have returned with an improved offer and have reopened contact with the 25-year-old winger, who is now said to be open to the move.

That is a change from the earlier picture. Leweling had reportedly leaned toward staying in Stuttgart and had turned down interest from both Roma and Everton. Now, though, Roma’s persistence appears to have changed the mood around the deal, and the player is no longer viewed as firmly committed to remaining in the Bundesliga.

The numbers involved are significant. Roma are believed to be offering €30 million plus €5 million in bonuses, while Everton’s previous bid was even higher once bonuses were included. Even so, the Italian club may have an edge if Leweling has truly warmed to the idea of playing in Serie A.

For Stuttgart, the late development creates uncertainty at a difficult time in the window. With the season already underway, losing a key wide option would be a major setback unless a replacement can be found quickly.
