Roma linked with Genoa’s Italy-Ghana midfielder Samuel Wiafe

Samuel Wiafe, an Italy-Ghana dual national currently at Genoa, has been linked with a move to Serie A rivals Roma.

The 18-year-old central midfielder joined Genoa from Modena in July 2026 in a deal worth €3m and has since made a limited but visible start to life in the top flight. Wiafe has played three Serie A matches this season, totalling 204 minutes, while also featuring twice in the Italy Cup and providing one assist.

Wiafe’s market value is listed at €2.5m, below the fee Genoa paid to sign him. The midfielder had previously stepped up from Modena’s under-19 side to the senior team before securing his move to Genoa.

His opportunities under Genoa manager have so far been shared between starts and substitute appearances. He has started 25% of the club’s Serie A matches this campaign and has completed 28% of the available league minutes, with one yellow card and no goals or assists.

Roma and Genoa are both competing in Serie A, with the reported interest coming only a few months after Wiafe’s arrival in Liguria. No probability has been attached to the proposed transfer.

Wiafe remains under contract with Genoa until 30 June 2030 and is currently part of the club’s first-team squad.
