Rolland Courbis, the coach of Montpellier, has stirred controversy by launching a scathing attack on Sochaux and its coach, Hervé Renard, well-known to African fans for leading Zambia to victory in the 2012 CAN.
Courbis criticized Sochaux, calling them a “trendy” team and questioning their methods of avoiding relegation. He referenced a previous match where Montpellier defeated Sochaux 2-0, implying that this victory had contributed significantly to Sochaux’s survival in the league.
He also accused Sochaux of benefiting from favorable scheduling and predicted outcomes of upcoming matches. Courbis went on to praise Renard’s competence but suggested that if he were to join a struggling team and achieve similar results, he would receive more recognition.
Courbis concluded by advising Sochaux to be cautious and not underestimate the challenges of the next season, even if they manage to avoid relegation.
