ROGER MILLA: HE TAKES DOWN FINKE BEFORE THE WORLD CUP! NOT UP TO CAMEROON!
A few months before the 2014 World Cup, former Cameroonian international Roger Milla shared his thoughts on the December 6 draw, which placed the Indomitable Lions in a challenging Group A alongside Brazil (the host country), Croatia, and Mexico.
Despite his optimistic outlook, the former AS Monaco player expressed doubts about the performance of the Cameroon national team under coach Finke. Milla raised questions about the qualities of the German technician, stating, “I don’t know Funke. It’s here that I learned this name (…) it’s been 15 or 20 years he hasn’t coached. When you spend 20 years without training and then are picked up and placed at the helm of a great football nation like Cameroon, there is a problem.”
In addition to his concerns, Roger Milla recommended that the government make a careful selection of the Cameroonian delegation accompanying the Lions to Brazil. He emphasized the importance of having experienced Cameroonians alongside the coach to support the team effectively.
