Rodri reveals dream of having dinner with Real Madrid legend Zidane

Barcelona and Spain midfielder Rodri has chosen Zinedine Zidane as the historical figure he would most like to invite to dinner, while also speaking about his football role models, career experiences and personal ambitions.

In an interview with Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Rodri named Sergio Busquets as the footballer he considers his role model.

The midfielder selected Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp as the toughest opponent he has faced on the pitch. He identified Pep Guardiola as the best manager he has worked with.

Asked to name an opponent he regards as a friend, Rodri picked Athletic Bilbao defender Dani Vivian.

Rodri said he would choose Manchester if he were given the opportunity to travel anywhere. He also reflected on the main weakness and strength in his character.

“My weakness is that I have a strong personality and a short temper,” he said. “My strength is that I am always willing to listen and improve.”

The interview also explored the kind of legacy Rodri would like to create. Asked what headline he would one day like to read about himself, he focused on his desire to have a positive influence on children and future generations.

“I don’t know whether it would work as a headline, but inspiring children and new generations means a great deal to me, as does being able to pass important things on to them,” he said. “In Manchester, I worked with a foundation that cared for children.”

Rodri was then asked which historical figure he would choose to meet over dinner. His answer was brief: “Zidane.”

The midfielder ended by identifying the personal dream he has yet to fulfil.

“To become a father,” he said.
