Rodez Aveyron Football, the French Ligue 2 club, is making moves in the transfer market, with Senegalese international Arial Mendy emerging as their top defensive target. Currently under contract with Grenoble Foot 38, Mendy has attracted significant interest from Rodez, who are keen to bolster their backline ahead of the new season.

Mendy, a left-back with considerable experience in both French and international football, is reportedly being closely monitored by Rodez’s management.

According to sources, the Red and Yellow have already initiated discussions with Grenoble, with emissaries from Rodez engaging in talks over a potential transfer.

The club’s interest in Mendy is seen as part of a broader strategy to strengthen their squad and build for the future.

The 28-year-old defender has been identified as a key addition to Rodez’s long-term plans, particularly in light of the recent departure of Kevin Boma, who left for Estoril Praia in Portugal.

Mendy is expected to fill the void left by Boma, bringing his defensive skills and experience to Rodez’s ranks.

With the transfer window still open, Rodez is reportedly preparing to make a formal offer to secure Mendy’s services before the deadline.

Last season, Mendy featured in 16 Ligue 2 matches for Grenoble, where he provided two assists.

While these statistics might seem modest, his value lies in his defensive solidity and his ability to contribute to the team’s overall play.

His current market value stands at €400,000, according to Transfermarkt, a figure that reflects his potential and experience.

Mendy’s career has seen him play for several clubs across different leagues, including US Orléans, RC Lens, Servette FC in Switzerland, and Diambars FC in his home country of Senegal.

His contract with Grenoble is set to run until June 2026, but Rodez’s interest could see him making a move sooner rather than later.

The potential signing of Mendy would be a significant boost for Rodez, who are aiming to improve their defensive stability in the upcoming season.

The club’s pursuit of the Senegalese defender underscores their ambition to compete at a higher level in Ligue 2, and Mendy’s addition would bring both experience and depth to their squad.

As the transfer window progresses, Rodez’s fans will be eager to see if the club can finalize the deal and bring Mendy into their fold.

The coming days will be crucial as negotiations continue, and Rodez looks to secure a player who could play a pivotal role in their campaign.
