Norwich City’s recent signing, Rocky Bushiri, has already been loaned out to Blackpool for the upcoming season in English League One. The 19-year-old central defender, of Belgian and Congolese (DRC) descent, joined Norwich from Ostend at the start of July but will spend the season gaining valuable first-team experience in England’s third tier.
Bushiri had an impressive season on loan at Eupen, where he was a regular starter under Claude Makelele’s management, and also featured for Belgium at the U21 European Championship in Italy this summer. Despite signing a four-year contract with Norwich City, the club decided that a loan move would be the best step for his development, allowing him to adapt to British football and secure consistent playing time—a challenge he might not have faced immediately in the Premier League with Norwich.
“I’m happy to be here because it’s a club with ambitions and a new manager,” Bushiri said on Blackpool’s official website. “I’ve never played in England before, so I want to gain experience by coming here. I trained for five weeks with Norwich, so I feel ready to play.”
This loan move marks an important stage in Bushiri’s career, giving him the opportunity to showcase his defensive skills, develop in a competitive league, and prepare for a potential future role with Norwich’s first team in the Premier League. With his youth, talent, and international experience at the U21 level, the Belgian-Congolese defender is expected to make a notable impact at Blackpool this season.
