Rochdi Achenteh: Moroccan Midfielder Signs with Willem II

Dutch Eredivisie side **Willem II** have secured the signing of **Rochdi Achenteh** from **Vitesse Arnhem** in a bid to strengthen their squad for the remainder of the season. The 27-year-old left-back, who has struggled for minutes at Vitesse, has signed a contract that runs until the end of the current campaign, according to reports from **Mountakhab.net**.

Willem II, currently **13th in the Eredivisie table**, are hoping that Achenteh’s arrival will bolster their defensive options following the departure of defensive midfielder **Stijn Wuytens**, who recently moved to **AZ Alkmaar**. The club is aiming to stabilize its league position and ensure a strong second half of the season, and Achenteh is expected to play a key role in that objective.

For Achenteh, the move represents an opportunity to rediscover the form that saw him become a regular starter in previous campaigns. Last season, he was a fixture in Vitesse’s starting eleven, consistently demonstrating defensive solidity, tactical awareness, and the ability to support attacks from the left flank. However, since the start of this season, his involvement has been limited, with the Dutch international making just **five league appearances** since August.

The limited playing time at Vitesse prompted Achenteh to seek a fresh challenge, with Willem II offering the promise of regular first-team football. “I’m very happy to join Willem II and look forward to contributing to the team,” Achenteh said following the move. “I want to get back to playing consistently and help the club achieve its goals this season.”

Achenteh’s versatility will be an asset to Willem II, as he is capable of operating both defensively and offensively on the left side. His experience in the Eredivisie, combined with his ability to read the game and make overlapping runs, could provide the club with added dynamism in wide areas. Coach **Adrie Koster** has expressed confidence that the player will integrate quickly into the squad. “Rochdi is a professional with experience at this level. He knows the league well, and his quality and commitment will be valuable for us as we aim to secure a strong finish,” Koster commented.

The Eredivisie season has already proven challenging for Willem II, and the addition of Achenteh comes at a crucial time. The club is seeking to climb the table and avoid the threat of relegation, making reinforcements in both defense and midfield essential. Achenteh’s arrival not only fills the gap left by Wuytens but also strengthens the overall squad depth.

For Achenteh, the loan represents a chance to regain his rhythm and showcase his talents, while for Willem II, it is an important move to reinforce their campaign in the Dutch top flight. Both parties will be hoping the partnership proves mutually beneficial as the season progresses.
