Roberto De Zerbi has revealed what he loves most about Omar Marmoush after Tottenham Hotspur completed the signing of the Egyptian forward from Manchester City.

The 27-year-old has joined Spurs on a season-long loan, with the agreement including an obligation for the North London club to make the transfer permanent for £60 million next summer. Marmoush will wear the No.22 shirt and becomes Tottenham’s eighth signing of a busy summer transfer window.

His arrival follows the capture of Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City earlier this week, giving De Zerbi another dynamic attacking option as Tottenham look to strengthen their frontline.

De Zerbi impressed by Marmoush’s mentality

Marmoush arrives in North London having scored 16 goals in 62 appearances for Manchester City across all competitions. While his numbers at the Etihad were not spectacular, De Zerbi believes the Egyptian possesses the qualities required to make a significant impact at Tottenham.

“Omar is exactly the kind of player we want at this club – ambitious, hungry and determined to make a difference,” Roberto De Zerbi told the club’s official website.

“He has incredible attacking quality, but what I also love is his desire to improve and to win.

“He brings pace, intelligence and a real threat in front of goal, and I believe he can take our attacking play to another level.”

Those qualities have made Marmoush an attractive addition for Spurs, particularly after their opening Premier League performance exposed the need for greater attacking firepower.

Tottenham began the campaign with a disappointing 3-0 defeat away to Brentford, increasing the pressure for further reinforcements in the final third.

Marmoush gives Spurs another attacking weapon

The Egyptian’s versatility could prove particularly valuable to De Zerbi. Marmoush can operate across the forward line and combines explosive pace with intelligent movement, allowing him to stretch defensive lines and create space for teammates.

His ability to link play should also complement the direct running of Savio, who has already made an instant impression since arriving from Manchester City.
