Riyad Mahrez continues to make his mark in Saudi Arabia after writing his name into the Saudi Professional League history books.
The Algerian winger played a key role in Al Ahli Jeddah’s 2-0 win over Al Taawun on Wednesday in the 30th round of the league.
Mahrez has become the first player since 2016-2017 to create 20 or more scoring chances in two straight SPL seasons, according to SofaScore. He made 22 chances last season and has already reached 20 this campaign, showcasing his creativity and consistency.
Since joining Al Ahli, Mahrez has made 43 appearances across all competitions, netting 16 goals and delivering 18 assists. His impact was immediate, on 11 August 2023, he registered his first assist for the club in his debut competitive match, setting up Roberto Firmino in a win over Al-Hazem.
Al Ahli now sits third in the Roshan League with 61 points, thanks in no small part to Mahrez’s leadership and playmaking brilliance.
At 34, Mahrez proves he’s still a force, breaking records and lifting his team with every match.
