Riyad Mahrez exhausted after Al Ahli defeat to Pyramids FC
Riyad Mahrez could not hide his pain after Al Ahli Jeddah’s 1-3 defeat to Egyptian side Pyramids FC in the Intercontinental Cup on Tuesday.
The Algerian winger walked past the media with heavy steps and summed up his night with just four words.
“I swear I’m dead,” Mahrez said as he refused to stop for questions. His brief statement showed more than tired legs. It revealed a man weighed down by pressure and frustration.
Coach Matthias Jaissle admitted afterwards that the defeat came from the strain of a busy schedule. He explained that the players have been pushed hard by the demands of recent matches.
Supporters shared clips on social media of Mahrez avoiding interviews, a scene that quickly sparked debate about his current form. Many pointed to his struggle against Pyramids, where he was tightly marked and rarely found space to make an impact. He also looked confused when he came on and received instructions on a paper from his coach.
