Riyad Mahrez agrees deal in principle to join Qatar’s Al Shamal

Riyad Mahrez has reached a verbal agreement with Al Shamal over a short-term contract, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Algeria international has been without a club since leaving Al Ahli this summer and is expected to continue his career in Qatar. The final administrative procedures still need to be completed before the move can be officially confirmed.

Mahrez, 35, is set to take on a new challenge in another league after previous spells in France, England and Saudi Arabia. Barring an unexpected development, Al Shamal will be his next club.
