Rivers United sign Nigerian goalkeeper Zalli Abdullahi from Katsina United

Rivers United have signed Nigerian goalkeeper Zalli Abdullahi from NPFL rivals Katsina United. The 23-year-old makes the move within the Nigerian top flight as he continues his career in the domestic game.

Abdullahi, whose primary position is in goal, leaves Katsina United to link up with Rivers United ahead of the new campaign. The transfer is a completed deal between two clubs competing in the same division, underlining Rivers United’s intent to strengthen their options in defence.

The move keeps Abdullahi in familiar surroundings, with both clubs operating in the Nigeria Premier Football League. His switch to Rivers United comes at a time when his market value is listed at around €50,000, reflecting his standing in the league.

Having spent his recent seasons with Katsina United, Abdullahi now takes on a new challenge in Port Harcourt, where he will compete for the starting spot in goal and add depth to Rivers United’s squad.

The Nigerian goalkeeper’s transfer from Katsina United to Rivers United was completed on 23 July 2026.
