Rivers United complete midfield move for Nigeria’s Salaman Mohammed

Nigeria defensive midfielder Salaman Mohammed has joined Rivers United from Enyimba Aba, completing a move between two NPFL clubs.

Mohammed’s transfer was registered on 3 August 2026, bringing the Nigerian midfielder to Rivers United after one season with Enyimba. The 26/27 transfer is his second club change in successive seasons, following his move to Enyimba from Kanemi Warriors in August 2025.

The right-footed midfielder is listed primarily as a defensive midfielder and arrives with experience of regular NPFL football. He has made 41 appearances in the competition, playing 3,174 minutes. Those figures underline the amount of domestic top-flight football Mohammed has accumulated before switching clubs.

His move to Enyimba came after his time with Kanemi Warriors, where he had begun his previous spell in the NPFL. After a year at Enyimba, Mohammed now remains in Nigeria’s top division with Rivers United, continuing his career within the same domestic competition.

The transfer gives Rivers United a player whose recorded role is focused on the defensive side of midfield. Mohammed’s preferred right foot also provides a clear indication of his technical profile, while his experience in the NPFL adds established competition exposure to the squad.

Rivers United and Enyimba are both Nigerian clubs competing in the NPFL, meaning Mohammed’s move does not take him into a new league or country. Instead, it represents a domestic change after his latest season at Enyimba and follows his earlier switch from Kanemi Warriors.

Mohammed’s arrival is his third recorded senior club affiliation in the available career history. He joined Kanemi Warriors before moving to Enyimba on 1 August 2025, and the next stage of his career began with Rivers United on 3 August 2026.

The transfer also places the player at a club whose listed national affiliation is Nigeria, maintaining his involvement in the country’s domestic football structure. His recorded market value is €75,000, while no transfer fee has been disclosed for the move.

Mohammed has now completed his switch from Enyimba Aba to Rivers United and is registered as a Rivers United player.
