Super Eagles legend, Austin Jay Jay Okocha, has opened up about the rivalry between Nigeria and Ghana.
The two West African national teams have been football rivals for several decades and always produce fireworks on the pitch whenever they meet.
In recent years, the rivalry has moved from the football pitch, entering other areas including music and food.
Speaking on the rivalry between the two countries especially ahead of the 2025 Unity Cup that will feature both Nigeria and Ghana, Jay Jay Okocha shared his delight, insisting that the rivalry that exists between the two nations is a good one.
“I mean it is always a good match to watch. It is always a health rivalry so I am expecting it to be a good game, and a good banter before and after the game and if we have to involve Jollof rice, we will,” Okocha told Joy Sports.
He added, “There are a lot of things to talk about but for me it is always a healthy rivalry.”
At the Unity Cup, Nigeria’s Super Eagles are scheduled to face off with the Black Stars of Ghana at the Gtech Stadium on May 28.
Other countries that will participate in the tournament include Jamaica as well as Trinidad and Tobago.
