Rising Moroccan talent Ismaël Baouf named in Team of the Week in Netherlands

Young Moroccan defender Ismaël Baouf is steadily making his mark in Dutch football after earning a place in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie Team of the Week for Round 32.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who features for SC Cambuur, has been turning heads with a string of assured performances, establishing himself as a dependable figure in defence despite his young age.

Since joining Cambuur in 2025 from R.S.C. Anderlecht’s reserve side, Baouf has adapted impressively to the demands of senior football. In his first full season at this level, he has gradually worked his way into the team, displaying composure, discipline and a growing sense of authority at the back.

His recent inclusion in the Team of the Week highlights his increasing importance to Cambuur’s defensive setup, with his contributions becoming more influential as the season progresses.

Known for his calmness under pressure, Baouf has featured in 12 matches this campaign and has already scored twice, a notable return for a defender of his age.

On the international stage, he has represented Morocco at youth level, including involvement with the U20 side, where he was part of the team that secured a historic FIFA U20 World Cup triumph.
