Lille captain Rio Mavuba will be sidelined for the upcoming match against Monaco in the 30th day of Ligue 1 due to a relapse in his hamstring injury. Mavuba suffered the setback during his return from injury in the match against Nantes, which ended in a 0-0 draw.
As a result of this relapse, Mavuba will also miss the quarter-final match against Rennes in the Coupe de France on March 27 and the subsequent league fixture against Guingamp on Sunday.
According to the club, Mavuba’s hamstring injury is not yet fully healed, and he will require another two weeks of recovery depending on his progress. This injury had previously forced him to exit the match against Ajaccio and caused him to miss the France-Netherlands fixture.
Jonathan Delaplace is expected to replace Mavuba in the Lille lineup during his absence. Mavuba’s availability for the World Cup in Brazil remains uncertain as he continues his recovery.
