Rio Ferdinand urges Man United to pounce for Tchouameni
Rio Ferdinand believes Manchester United should make a serious move for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni and not be put off by reports of a training-ground clash with Federico Valverde.
The former United defender feels the Frenchman’s edge is exactly what his old club are missing in midfield.
“Tchouameni, allegedly, has had a bit of a fight with Valverde in training. That wouldn’t worry me one bit him coming to Manchester United. I want a bit of fight, I want a bit of aggression,” Ferdinand said on his YouTube channel. He stressed that Tchouameni does not have a reputation as a troublemaker, describing him as “a lovely guy” off the pitch.
Ferdinand highlighted the 26-year-old’s ability to influence games in multiple ways. “He can do both sides of the game: he can play but can also rattle a few and get around people, he’s versatile,” he added, calling him an “unbelievable signing” if United could somehow prise him away from Madrid.
With Real Madrid not considering a sale for now, Ferdinand suggested United should be ready to “strike” if any destabilisation around Tchouameni’s role creates an opening, arguing that top clubs must be ruthless when such rare chances appear.
