**Africa Set for Women’s Olympic Qualifiers with South Africa and Cameroon Leading the Charge**
The road to the Rio 2016 Olympics is heating up as Africa prepares for the women’s football tournament, with two teams vying for a spot in Brazil. Four countries remain in contention: South Africa, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and Equatorial Guinea.
This Saturday, South Africa will host Equatorial Guinea in Johannesburg at 1 p.m. GMT, with coach Vera Pauw expressing confidence in her team’s preparation. “The players are in good shape, we have no injuries, and since their return, we have been able to put in place the best strategy to beat the Guineans,” Pauw said. However, the coach remains wary of the offensive threat posed by the Equatorial Guinea side, many of whom play outside their home country. “We expect them to play very offensively, more in a European style,” she added. “But we are ready.”
In the other qualifier, Cameroon will face Zimbabwe in Yaoundé at 2 p.m. GMT. The return leg for both matches is scheduled for the following week.
**The Program:**
**Saturday, October 3:**
* **South Africa vs Equatorial Guinea** (Johannesburg, 1 p.m. GMT)
* **Cameroon vs Zimbabwe** (Yaoundé, 2 p.m. GMT)
Both matches will be crucial in determining which teams secure their place in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
