Rigobert Song praises son Bryan after Metz deal

Rigobert Song has shared a heartfelt message after his son Bryan Song signed his first professional contract with FC Metz.

The 19-year-old right-back has committed his future to the French club until 2029, marking a major step in his young career.

Metz highlighted both the player’s progress and the family connection, noting that Bryan is following a path once taken by his father in Moselle. Bryan started his youth career at UMS Pontault-Combault FC (2014-2016), US Torcy-Paris Vallée de la Marne (2016-2021), and Paris FC (2021-2023).

Rigobert Song played for the club from 1994 to 1998, so the new deal adds another layer of meaning to the story.

On Instagram, the former Cameroon captain praised his son with the words “the next generation is assured,” then went on to say he was proud of Bryan and reminded him to keep working hard and enjoying the game. He described the moment as a new chapter and said the whole family was already behind him.

For Metz, the signing is also a sign of faith in a player they believe has developed steadily. For the Songs, it is a rare and emotional moment: one generation welcoming the next into professional football, in the same colours and with the same ambition.
