Richards Bay part company with head coach Ronnie Gabriel after winless start

Richards Bay FC have announced that head coach Ronnie Gabriel has resigned with immediate effect after the club failed to win any of their opening six matches of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.

The Natal Rich Boyz have recorded three draws and three defeats so far, with their difficult start compounded by a 5-1 loss to Milford FC in their most recent match.

Gabriel was appointed head coach in July, having previously spent several seasons as part of Richards Bay’s coaching setup. The role was his first as a head coach in the Betway Premiership.

In a statement, the club said: “Richards Bay Football Club is sad to announce that head coach Ronnie Gabriel has resigned from the club with immediate effect.”

The club also thanked Gabriel for his work during his time with the team.

“The club expresses its sincere appreciation to coach Ronnie Gabriel for his dedication, professionalism and contribution during his tenure for the past seasons with the club as our technical team member and wishes him every success in his future endeavours,” the statement added.

Richards Bay did not announce a replacement for Gabriel, but said more information would be released in due course.

“Further updates on the new coach will be provided in due course,” the club said.

Gabriel’s resignation leaves Richards Bay searching for a new manager while the club attempts to secure its first league victory of the season.
