In a noteworthy comeback, Richard Kingson has reignited his pursuit of a spot in the football spotlight. Despite the public outcry that followed his return to the Ghana selection for the 2014 World Cup play-offs last November, the determined Ghanaian goalkeeper has now secured a fresh opportunity with Balikesirspor, a Turkish second division club.
After concluding his contract with Doxa Katokopias in Cyprus, the 36-year-old goalkeeper inked a two-year deal with Balikesirspor, where he joins forces with Togolese player Lalawele Atakora. This move marks a return to familiar territory for the former Galatasaray goalkeeper, who had left Turkey in 2007 to join Ankaraspor. During his introductory presentation, Kingson expressed his joy at returning to his “second land” and conveyed his eagerness to contribute to the ambitious team’s success, stating, “It’s a player’s pleasure to play for a team with so much ambition. I am ready to don the jersey for the success of the team.”
Currently positioned in 4th place in the championship, Balikesirspor has its sights set on promotion to the first division, trailing the league leader Orduspor by a mere 2 points.
