RICHARD KINGSON HEADING TO APOEL NICOSIA
The seasoned Ghanaian goalkeeper, Richard Kingson, is not ready to hang up his boots just yet. At present, he is in negotiations with Cypriot club Apoel Nicosia regarding a potential contract. The 34-year-old Kingson has been without a club since the termination of his contract with English club Blackpool, which suffered relegation from the Premier League two years ago.
According to a source close to the matter, “An Egyptian agent is currently following up on the case for him. He should sign very soon for Apoel Nicosia as discussions are very advanced with the club,” as reported by Goal.com Ghana.
Having previously played for clubs such as Galatasaray in Turkey, Hammarby, and Wigan, Kingson has been keeping himself in shape by training with Wigan in recent weeks while awaiting a potential contract signing. His extensive experience includes defending Ghana’s goal in the country’s only two World Cup appearances, in 2006 and 2010.
