There are some Barcelona officials reportedly not in favour of the club’s decision to pursue the signing of Spanish forward of Ghanaian descent, Nico Williams.
According to rumours, this anti-Williams group continuously feeds Spanish media with false information about the player to make him unpopular in hopes that the club will stop pursuing his signature.
Despite claims that the player is demanding unfavourable terms, sources close to the negotiations insist that Nico Williams is eager to make the move to Camp Nou.
Leading Spanish outlets such as Mundo Deportivo and Marca maintain that the deal is still in jeopardy due to Financial Fair Play regulations.
However, Barcelona insists it has secured the necessary financial clearance to complete the transfer, a position recently reinforced by La Liga’s confirmation of the club’s compliance with the league’s economic requirements.
While the internal disagreements continue, the club’s interest in landing the Athletic Club star remains strong.
The club is, however, yet to present a formal bid to Athletic Club.
