Rennes are eyeing a move for Ghanaian defender Alexander Djiku, with the clock ticking down on the winter transfer window, according to Foot Mercato.
The Ligue 1 club is looking to strengthen their defense under Jorge Sampaoli’s guidance, and Djiku, currently playing at Fenerbahçe, is believed to be a prime target.
The 30-year-old, who previously featured for Strasbourg and Caen in France, brings valuable experience to the table. Rennes believe the Ghana international could provide the leadership and solidity they need at the back. Fenerbahçe are reportedly open to the possibility of parting with the former Strasbourg center-back, which could make negotiations smoother for the French club.
Rennes have been active in their search for defensive reinforcements this month, having also expressed interest in Kevin Danso from Lens, though their attempts have been unsuccessful so far.
With Djiku’s current market value set at €8.5 million, the transfer could soon come to fruition, giving Rennes the boost they need as they look to strengthen their squad.
