Prince Oniangué Returns as Reims Prepare for Crucial Ligue 1 Clash Against Metz
Reims have received a welcome boost ahead of their Ligue 1 fixture against Metz on Saturday, as influential midfielder Prince Oniangué has been named in the travelling squad.
The Congolese international had been sidelined following his team’s recent defeat to Marseille, remaining in treatment throughout the week. However, he has now been deemed fit by head coach Jean-Luc Vasseur and is set to rejoin the team for the crucial seventh round of the campaign.
Oniangué’s return could be pivotal for Reims, who are looking to bounce back after a string of mixed results. Known for his physical presence and ability to control the midfield, Oniangué brings experience and stability to the squad, and his inclusion is expected to bolster Reims’ efforts to climb the Ligue 1 table.
However, the team will be without forward David Ngog, who has been ruled out due to illness. The former Liverpool striker’s absence limits attacking options for Reims, with Vasseur likely to turn to Gaëtan Charbonnier or Nicolas de Préville to lead the line in Ngog’s absence.
The Reims squad announced for the trip to Metz includes a blend of seasoned defenders and promising midfield talents. The goalkeeping duties will be shared by Agassa and Bastien, while the defensive line features Conte, Mandi, Tacalfred, Mavinga, Roberge, and Glombard.
