Reda Selim’s hopes of representing Al Ahly in the upcoming Club World Cup have been completely dashed following the delay in his surgery and subsequent recovery process.
The Moroccan winger, who suffered a knee cartilage tear on December 22, underwent surgery last month in Austria but is now facing a lengthy rehabilitation period.
On Monday, Selim was seen at the Mukhtar Al-Touch Stadium, moving with the aid of crutches as he continues his recovery.
A source within Al Ahly confirmed to Kooora that the 25-year-old will require at least three to four months before he can gradually return to training. As a result, he has no chance of featuring in the tournament set to take place in the United States from June 15 to July 13.
The club has already removed Selim from their squad list, with the player set to begin a rehabilitation program in Cairo before heading back to Austria for the next phases of his recovery.
