Reda Laalaoui, a standout performer for Morocco during their run to the 2025 U20 Africa Cup of Nations final, has officially signed with Hull City, marking the beginning of his professional journey in English football.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who was instrumental in Morocco’s U20 campaign and scored the decisive goal in a 3-2 group-stage victory over Kenya, has left Fath Union Sport (FUS Rabat) to join the Championship side.
Hull City confirmed the signing on Wednesday, announcing Laalaoui’s arrival on a four-year contract that runs until 2029.
“Hull City are pleased to announce the signing of Moroccan midfielder Reda Laalaoui from Fath Union Sport for an undisclosed fee,” the club said in a statement posted on their official website.
Standing at 1.90 metres tall, Laalaoui brings a combination of physicality and technical skill to the midfield — traits that Hull City hope will bolster their push for promotion after a narrowly avoided relegation scare last season.
The Tigers finished 21st in the Championship, surviving only by goal difference in a tightly contested campaign.
Laalaoui expressed his excitement about the move and emphasised his ambition to succeed in England.
“I’m very happy to be joining Hull City,” he said. “It’s a historic club in England and I’m looking forward to helping the team and making the fans happy. It’s a very well-known team in England and one of my dreams was to play in England.”
He added: “It’s one of the best leagues in the world and I’m here to improve, it’s important for my development. I always work hard for the team and I play with a lot of guts. I always play to win and I’m here to win.”
The Rabat-born midfielder’s transfer marks a significant step in his career following his impressive performances at continental youth level.
His strong presence in midfield, both defensively and going forward, made him a crucial figure for the Atlas Lions during the U20 AFCON.
With Hull City aiming to return to the Premier League in the near future, Laalaoui’s arrival reflects the club’s long-term investment in young international talent.
His development will be closely followed by both Moroccan fans and supporters of the Yorkshire club, who will be eager to see how the promising midfielder adapts to the physical demands of English football.
