South African tactician Rhulani Mokwena will have to find himself a new job after missing out on Orlando Pirates coaching job.
Mokwena, who recently parted ways with Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca came close to joining the Soweto giants, having reached an agreement with the club.
Surprisingly, Orlando Pirates has announced Abdeslam Ouaddou as their new head coach heading into the 2025/26 football campaign.
Per reports in South Africa, Mokwena’s decision to appoint his own backroom staffs which was not welcomed by the leadership of the club cost him the Orlando Pirates coaching job.
Despite missing out on the job, the relationship between Mokwena and Orlando Pirates remains intact.
Mokwena’s appointment could have marked his return to Orlando Pirates, having previously served as assistant to Milutin Sredojević and Josef Zinnbauer from 2017 to 2019 and again in 2019-2020.
He stepped in as the interim coach of Pirates in 2019 after the Serbian coach Milutin Sredojević was dismissed in August 2019.
