Real Oviedo hints at summer sale of Egypt star Haitham Hassan amid Celtic interest

Real Oviedo sporting director David Fernandez has addressed the growing speculation surrounding the future of Egyptian winger Haitham Hassan, admitting that the club could consider a sale if the right financial offer arrives during the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the most talked-about names in the Spanish transfer market following strong interest from Scottish champions Celtic, who are determined to reinforce their squad ahead of the new season and their UEFA Champions League qualifying campaign.

Celtic have already submitted an initial offer worth £3.4 million for Hassan, but the proposal was rejected by Real Oviedo, who believe the winger is worth considerably more. “We are here to make the best sporting decisions and build the best possible team, but the financial aspects are outside my jurisdiction,” Fernandez said.

“We want to sign the best players, but the market will determine when the team’s roster will be completed,” he added.

Hassan has become an increasingly attractive target following his impressive performances in Spain, with his pace, creativity and ability to operate on either flank attracting attention from several clubs across Europe.

While Celtic currently appear to be leading the chase, they are not the only club monitoring the Egyptian international. Reports have also linked Premier League giants Liverpool with the winger, although no official approach from the Merseyside club has been confirmed.
