Real Madrid under fire for Kylian Mbappe injury diagnosis mistake
Kylian Mbappe’s recent knee injury has sparked major criticism of Real Madrid’s medical team after reports emerged of a serious diagnostic error.
The forward, who initially felt something was wrong during his time in Madrid, was left disappointed by how the situation was handled.
According to Daniel Riolo on RMC Sport, Mbappe’s first assessment in Madrid was far from convincing. “He received a poor diagnosis he clearly didn’t like it and was even angry,” Riolo said, highlighting the player’s frustration with the club’s medical staff. French specialist Bertrand Sonnery-Cottet later identified the real issue and proposed a muscle-strengthening plan in Paris, avoiding surgery and helping Mbappe recover properly.
COPE journalist Miguel Angel Diaz claimed the mistake was basic, alleging that Madrid doctors examined the wrong knee. “Real Madrid, in their initial diagnosis, got the knee wrong. Instead of examining Mbappé’s left knee, they examined his right”.
Riolo went as far as calling it a “catastrophic” and “colossal” error, linking it to recent changes in the club’s medical structure. Mbappe has since confirmed he now feels “100%” after receiving the correct diagnosis in Paris, stressing that finally understanding the problem was crucial to his comeback.
