Real Madrid squad: Tchouameni still out as Mbappe and Vinicius lead attack against Real Sociedad

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has named his squad for Wednesday’s postponed La Liga fixture against Real Sociedad, with Aurelien Tchouameni still absent because of injury.

The match will be played at Santiago Bernabeu and was originally scheduled as part of the opening round of the Spanish league season. Real Madrid will be looking to build on their first league result, a 2-1 victory over Espanyol.

Tchouameni’s continued absence is the main selection update from Mourinho’s announcement. The France midfielder remains unavailable as he continues to recover from his injury.

Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior are both included in the attacking group named for the meeting with Real Sociedad. Their presence gives Mourinho two of the squad’s main forward options for the fixture, although the published list does not confirm the starting line-up.

The squad includes a wide range of defensive options, with Courtois, Lunin and Mestre providing the three goalkeeping choices. In defence, Mourinho has selected Huijsen, Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Cucurella, Carreras, Rudiger, Dumfries and Rivas.

Bellingham, Camavinga, Valverde, Guler, Silva, Sastiero and Ciria make up the midfield selection. The attacking group consists of Vinicius, Mbappe, Espe, Diaz and Diomande.

Real Madrid’s previous league match ended in a win against Espanyol, with the team scoring twice and conceding once. The fixture against Real Sociedad now gives them the opportunity to add to that opening-round result at home.

With the match taking place at Santiago Bernabeu, attention will centre on whether Mbappe and Vinicius are used together in attack and how Mourinho adjusts his side in the continued absence of Tchouameni.
